Paweł Zaręba was born in 1965 in Warsaw. In 1990 he obtained a diploma from Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Lepizig (Germany). He works and lives in Zalesie Górne.
His art focuses on the question of the presence of the artist, the trace he leaves behind and the impermanence of this trace. In his works Zaręba seeks expression within the borders of monochromacy, materiality and texture. He takes the risk of complementing “the colour as an autonomous quality” with the element of reflection, which then becomes part of the picture itself. While creating his works, the artist at the same time explores the subtlety, delicacy and unpredictability of the material he uses.
Paweł Zaręba’s works we present in our gallery are just a small sample of this artist’s output. We exhibit 5 pictures which – as we believe – demonstrate the potential of monochrome painting in an unusually subtle way.
Zaręba meticulously and often hazardously utilizes the alchemy of colour and the technical possibilities of the matter.
An additional element of his art is the space reflected in his mirror-like pictures, the space which – combined with the glazed layers of paint – creates a sense of three-dimensionality.
It is the first individual exhibition of the artist in Warsaw. Everyone is kindly invited to visit.
